“Still awake,” Damian said, his voice low.
Amara turned, her heart stuttering in her chest. He stood there in the doorway, looking exhausted. His sleeves were rolled up, the top button of his shirt undone, revealing the faint edge of a tattoo she’d never noticed before. His eyes - sharp, cold, unreadable - studied her for a moment too long.
