THE CURSED ONE
Their growls echoed against the crumbling walls, the air thick with musk, dirt and hunger.
In the center of the courtyard, under the fractured moonlight, the cloaked figure moved deliberately, pouring a thick line of salt in a large circle on the ground. Wishing the ring, candles flickered, black, blue and crimson, each positioned at precise points where triangles had been carved into the dirt.
The shapes formed an ancient pattern. A ritual forbidden in most realms, forgotten in others, feared by those who still remembered.
The figure straightened slowly, the cloak saying in the cold breeze.
