Aurora slightly adjusted her dress, she gently tilted her head back as I walked to the door. Just as she was almost done re-arranging the length of her gown, a scar was clearly visible on her collarbone. It was almost glowing. Immediately, it caught my attention. I stared for a few seconds, before Aurora caught me staring at it deeply. She held the helm of her dress feeling shy. She averted her gaze as soon as she met mine, which made me uncomfortable.

Toasts were made, to absent mates whose names still lived in hearts, to pups who had shifted for the first time, to the strength that had carried the pack through another brutal year. Aurora sat at the high table between Ethan and Jason. She wore a simple aqua dress that matched her father’s eyes when they glowed; her hair was braided with silver threads the elders had woven in for protection. She smiled at the little ones who came to show her their drawings, but her gaze kept drifting to the high arched windows where rain streaked the glass in silver ribbons. The storm had been building all day, low clouds, electric air. She felt it in her bones: something heavier than weather.

Her breath tickling the hair on my face. Sweet relief flooded me. I spun her around in my arms and took her lips with mine. I rested my forehead on hers with a sigh. "Thank you", I uttered. She smiled, "Come, I want to get started", she encouraged, taking my hand and pulling me back to the training grounds. *** Aurora ran her hand over the array of bows that we had to offer. She brushed her fingers over my favorite one. It was widdled with designs on lightning striking down around the form of a wolf with gold eyes. My favorite, obviously because of Zeus' eye color.

"I'm not stupid enough to come here without insurance." Silence. Aurora reached into her coat. Withdrew nothing visible. But her lips moved — quiet, precise, a sequence of words that had no business in a courtyard at night — and the air in front of her changed. Shifted. A glass vessel appearing from nothing, suspended at chest height, and inside it— The heart. Still beating. Steady and patient and entirely certain of itself the way it had been for thirteen years. Mei's breath changed. Barely. Almost nothing. But Aurora was watching for it and she saw it — that half second where ten thousand years of composure met thirteen years of grief and grief won briefly before composure took it back.

The scent of eucalyptus, the cozy sprawl of Jason’s house, and the sound of children playing in the kindergarten nearby home. Nathan and Mia were waiting, bright smiles and open arms ready. “Welcome back,” Nathan greeted, pulling Jason into a brotherly hug. Mia squeezed Aurora’s hands, eyes shining. “It feels right with you home again.” Aurora smiled, hugging Mia back, though the wooden box seemed to burn against her side, a reminder of the secrets she carried. That night, once Malcolm was asleep and the house was calm, Aurora carried the chest into their bedroom. She pushed it far back into the corner of the closet, under folded blankets and old winter coats. A hidden place for now.

Aurora exclaimed while clutching her chest. Tin... Once again, the motorcycle horn interrupted her reverie. Aurora quickly approached Dave. "Come here!" Dave said as he pulled Aurora's hand closer. Carefully, Dave placed the helmet on Aurora's head. "Let's ride!" Dave commanded, causing Aurora to nod and climb onto the back of the motorcycle behind Dave.

A luxury she has been used to all her life. So early this morning Aurora had taken the last available flight from Italy to Dallas, unfortunately the last available flight was in Economy. And economy happens to be one of Auroras pet peeves. I sigh for what might just be the hundredth time. The airport is pretty crowded, but it's not that I fear I won't easyily spot her. After all Aurora is 4 inches taller than my 5 foot 7 frame, plus she's a platinum blonde so it'll be easy to pick her out from this crowd.

Aurora The morning sun crept through the curtains like a silent witness to the storm that had raged within them all the night before. Aurora stirred under the covers, her limbs aching not from physical exertion, but from the weight of the choice she had made during the loyalty challenge. The only time Aurora really touches anyone is when she is viewing their past; other than that, she avoids contact as much as possible. A hush falls over the mess hall as everyone waits and watches Aurora. She is revered for her visions. She has saved this pack more times than any wolf shifter. Her visions allow Jackson to see any threat before it happens. After a couple of minutes, Aurora slumps forward and catches herself on the table. She’s panting hard and fast. Jax quickly jumps from his seat and makes his way over to her, handing her a glass of water. “It’s okay, you're okay. Deep breaths, babe.” Even now Jackson doesn’t touch her, he just reassures her with his words.

I had to save the one that looked like Aurora. Then I saw it, a plain, beautiful model that looked like Aurora falling off the rack. I jumped into the air and waved my hands to grab it. Something cold landed on my hands and then everything turned dark.
