The lobby was marble, silent, and smelled of wood polish and wealth. She was a stain on its perfection. She walked to the polished brass gate that guarded the vaults, her cheap sneakers squeaking on the marble. A man in a perfect suit looked up, his expression one of polite disdain. "Can I help you?" She held out the small, silver safe deposit box key, the one she’d tied on a string around her neck.
