"I remember those days. It gets easier, I promise." Alice hoped she was right. Their first stop was Happy Horizons Daycare, a cheery-looking building with a rainbow painted on the side. Alice took a deep breath before entering, Charlie balanced on her hip. The inside was bright and colorful, with soft play areas for babies and toddlers. The sound of children's laughter and gentle lullabies filled the air. A friendly-looking woman with curly hair approached them. "Hi there! I'm Sarah. Welcome to Happy Horizons. And who's this little cutie?"

Alex’s mother stood poised as always, elegant in her tailored coat, but her hands trembled slightly as she stepped inside and caught sight of the baby. “My granddaughter,” Anna whispered. Clara gently passed Hope into her arms. Anna held her as if she were made of glass, tears welling in her eyes. “She looks like Alex,” she said softly. “But she smiles like you.” Clara blushed. “She’s named Hope. Hope Vivienne Banks.” Anna smiled through her tears. “A beautiful name. For a new beginning.” She brought out the gifts—a hand-knitted pink blanket, a gold bracelet etched with Hope’s initials, and a tiny book of fairytales. “For her dreams,” she said. “For all the stories she’ll grow up hearing.”

Amara's POV The Hope Foundation's Philadelphia welcome event was held on a Saturday morning. I had received the invitation four days after the letter, a clean navy and white card delivered by hand to our mailbox, which had struck me as unnecessarily formal for a children's medical foundation until I remembered whose name was on the building and understood that unnecessarily formal was probably just how things worked in that particular ecosystem. The Little Kids Orphanage and School located in the outskirts of town was well known for taking care of orphans. It was known for its strict rules and regulations and was quite normal to see new orphans coming in every day, Thank you. That was a regular evening and the weather suggested that the unexpected rain would happen. The orphanage only watchman was sitting comfortably near the main gate — having his regular tea. He noticed, for the first time, a group of people were driving towards the Orphanage. He thought they were going to donate something. To his surprise, there was a boy with them; Maybe by the age of 10 or 11 — he was handsome with silky hair and he looked very quiet and sad.
