The Perfect Wife Walked Away
If the gown revealed any hint of her early pregnancy, the bouquet successfully disguised it.
She actually looked happy, smug and triumphant, all at the same time.
This was her day.
I wondered if she believed all her vicious scheming and criminal subterfuge were worth it.
Behind her, holding an almost equally magnificent bouquet of flowers, followed her maid of honor. The bridesmaid’s gown was a pale pink blush, adorned with lace and tiny silken flower buds along the edges. I didn’t recognize the woman, she wasn’t part of the extended family. Maybe she was a friend? I hadn’t known Lily to have many friends; she was never good at being considerate to others.
