Hothouse Flower Novels & Stories

Someone inside Highcliff Hold was running a supply line across the treaty border. Not the vampires doing the scouting. Someone on our side, inside these walls, inside this compound, running a line to the other side while the Supreme Alpha's guards walked their patrols above and the treaty held its careful fiction of mutual restraint. I stood in the dim cool room with three months of treason in my memory and felt the particular sharpening that came when something large became clear, when the theory that had been building for nineteen days resolved into something harder and more specific than a theory. This was what they had been watching for from the ridge. Not the compound itself. The eviden

"Smell the Hoya over there...it's been flowering for months. We just let it ramble around...it's native to the Philippines, but it loves that spot...the rich fragrance is amazing, and visitors always start sniffing around for the source, and then they look up." We paused at different points to talk plants, but I'd have to say the nude tour was very distracting. I don't think Pete and I ever got anywhere close to flaccid. Despite the amorous encounter, I'm surprised we weren't all over each other. "This soft blue is amazing, and they seem to flower constantly...it's Plumbago auriculata and we usually put them outside the Temperate House, but I think they're going to land at the north and sout

Theo's stern voice wriggled in my ears, making my blood ripple. He sat in a chair that was in the middle of the room surrounded by beautiful plants and my position was on his lap. Theo hugged my body from behind, and he placed his chin on my shoulder. I looked around, such a large room; cream marble floor with beautiful intricate carving accents. There is a dining table complete with chairs. And the most interesting thing is that the plants inside this greenhouse have different types that I don't understand. “What kind of flower is it? Which is blue and white?” I asked Theo. I pointed to a large pot containing a small, round-shaped flower with a blue tinge at the edge of its petal line.

The mounds of goods loomed in the gloom like icebergs to the north. They continued through the room and up again to a higher floor. Rain thought they were already on the roof of the building. Ben opened the door of what appeared to be a greenhouse. The smell immediately ambushed them gently. There was a rich, dark smell of earth and a more robust, lingering smell of night flowers, such as trumpet moonflower, white angel flower, and four o'clock flower. Rain saw even more flowers she didn't recognize. They entered a glass house surrounded by glass walls. Rain could see the glow of Westlake Lake burning like frozen pearls. The decorative lights installed around the lake make the place beautifu

“Guess they didn’t all die.” I ran over to it and waved Zena over. The flower was small, pretty and seemed like it had just bloomed as it was the only ray of light amidst the brown leaves in the greenhouse. It was a combination of orange, yellow and red and it was the prettiest sight I have ever seen. “Ohhh…That’s a lantana.” Zena said, touching the flower softly and smiling. “You know it?”

There were hundreds of plants scattered all over with flowers of miscellaneous shapes and sizes and shades of purple. As I moved deeper into the greenhouse, my senses were overwhelmed by the fragrance of lavender, tulips and roses filling the air with their soothing aromas. I watched awe struck and a sense of calmness washed over me as I stepped towards a large potted heliotrope, releasing its sweet, intoxicating scent like reminiscent of vanilla and cherry. The deep purple blooms of the heliotrope contrasted magnificently with the surrounding green foliage and the flickers of the first light that filtered through the glass.

I take a peek into the water and see that there are pink, white, and yellow water lilies floating around in the water. "How can I help you folks," The lady asks and I detect a bit of a southern accent. She wipes her hands with a yellow cloth and Klara takes a step towards her. "I'm looking for Ipomoea," Klara says and the lady nods in understanding. "This way," she says and leads us past a green curtain that leads to another door. She opens the door and when we step in I realize that it's a greenhouse. She has rows of foxgloves, ranges of different colors of roses running down one row, and other various species flowers. She leads us down the flower aisle and in doing so she holds out her han

His expression was serious and stoic as usual but at least he said more than a few words. I guess he doesn’t want to talk to me then. The car suddenly stopped in front of a big gate before the gate was opened and the car drove inside the big mansion. The flowers leading up to the main building were majorly yellow carnation and purple Hyacinth with a touch of Marigold. Having studied interior decoration for a few years of my life, I knew what every flower meant. The meanings that they depict and how they relate to each of our lives. Seeing these flowers in massive numbers gives me goosebumps suddenly, I felt sad for just no reason by looking at the flowers.

Of course, he didn't let her go; it's not every day he gets a chance to play the rogue with her like this. Escorting Flora to the dressing room, Matthew resumed his familiar stoic face, summoning a subordinate for a chat. "What types of flowers are planted in this garden? For what purpose?" The subordinate replied with a straight face: "Boss, didn't you read the brief? This garden mainly cultivates various aromatic plants for perfumes and pharmaceuticals…" Matthew raised his hand to cut him off before he could finish. That wasn't what he wanted to know. "I mean... are there any poppies planted here?"

"And let me show you my favorite place in the house." He opened the back door of the house, and it was leading to the garden. There were some trees I couldn't name, but the most eye-catching things were the flowers! There was Hydrangea, Coneflower, Dahlia, Daisy, Petunia, and even Iris! There were also a lot of wildflowers I couldn't recognize. The color arrangement was really stunning. I think it was also my favorite place in this Pack House.
