Betrothed
I stuttered, exchanging glances with Kelvin, who looked increasingly tense.
“Would you re-marry my son, Kim?” The question hung in the air, heavy and unexpected. Silence enveloped us as I struggled to process what I had just heard.
“Did I just hear right? Can this woman be so relentless?” I shot Kelvin a desperate look, urging him to say something, anything.
All I could think was that revealing my cancer would be the easiest way to end this conversation. Would that be enough to turn her off? I held my breath, waiting for Kelvin to intervene.
