It sounded like a massive number, a milestone that should have made me feel accomplished, but it just felt like the exact halfway mark of a race I was still running. I knew how we got there, and I knew every single scar it had cost us to stand on that side of the mountain, but I had no idea how to write the final page of a book that we were still actively living through every single day. This November would serve as the final month I would update on this book and it'll be complete by November 30.

The novel has 52 chapters including the prologue and epilogue. I closed my laptop before I walk out of my room, I look at Janine and Shia who are eating their chips while they are watching. “Oh, hi!” Janine greeted me when she noticed me. “You didn’t tell me that you’re going here,” I say, I sit beside her. “Is it required?” she asks, I laugh, “I’m watching with my friend, I don’t want to talk to anyone,” she added before she look at the TV again. Shia looked at Janine.

The cellar stairs stretched before me like a descent into the underworld. Each step echoed off ancient stone, a countdown to something I couldn't name. Behind my eyes, the images flickered without mercy, the courtyard, the post, the whip rising and falling. June's back splitting open. June's blood painting the stones. June's eyes, even then, even at the worst moment, looking at me with something that wasn't quite defeat. I had ordered those lashes. I had stood there and watched them fall. I had told myself it was justice, necessary discipline, the hard cost of maintaining order in a pack that needed to know its Alpha would not be challenged.

Most have asked how long the book will be. My editor and I are still discussing it, but it should be around 300 chapters because it will have Zane and Ian's story incorporated. This has been irritating me for a few days. To the people complaining about how the chapters are broken up, this is not a decision I made myself. I'm doing what I was told to do. GN wants chapters under 1k words to make them easier to purchase. Especially with bonus coins. My chapters tend to be 3-4k words so I HAVE to break them up. The first few chapters that are free I kept at their regular length because they are free, but the chapters starting from where it goes to PTR I was told to make shorter. There are other option on where to read my books if the chapter breaks are that much of an issue.... Leaving negative reviews for something so silly and out of my hands is unfair and really pet
