The Mate I Never Chose
"I’m not going anywhere, Rangga. Hold on!"
The cavern continued to heave. The ceiling—a jagged mosaic of stalactites—cracked. Large, jagged stones began to tumble, plunging into the water with geyser-like splashes. One massive chunk of limestone fell inches from where Hendra had been standing, forcing him to scramble away, his greed replaced by pure, animalistic terror.
"It’s not supposed to do this!" Hendra screeched, backing away into the shadows of the rising tunnel. "It’s just an anchor! It’s just supposed to lock the vein, not ignite it!"
