The First One

I still remember it like it happened just yesterday, it's plain as day in my memory, the first time I saw Melvin Cross, the love of my life; I was a three year old kid who just got lost,I wandered the streets of California for days, I had just arrived there from Seoul, where I lived with my Asian Mother, I had never seen my father and I didn't even know I had a twin sister and my Mother's face I could barely remember, I was just a three-years old kid, lost, scared and hungry as I have been wandering the streets for three days, I was so hungry I thought I was gonna die soon, all I had on me was a locket necklace, which I remember my mother telling me not to loose it, I cried and cried, but fo

Fake Marriage: The Trillionire Tycoon's Fiesty Bride

Bad memories always come flooding her head whenever it is raining with thunder flashing like this. ****Flashbacks****** It was in autumn, the first tragedy of her life started. The night she lost the first person she loved in her life. It was night and raining heavily with thunder flashing and rumbling in the sky. It was almost as a war was going on in heaven that night She remembered her young self waking up to the noise and commotion the maids were making outside her room. In curiosity, she climbed down from her bed, dressed in her long pink nightdress, her hair all messy due to her bad sleeping habit when she was little. She dragged the white bear doll her mother had given her as a gift a

This is a very well written book. I love the plot as well. I do wish the relationship between the female and male leads would progress more quickly though, even if I understand the reasons why it hasn’t yet. I’d still love to see more progress on that side. I just deleted a similar story bc of this.

Dear Author, we are already in chapter 275 and the story still not match the title. So when is it the main characters going to get married? Is this another book that it will drag forever? I’m just curious. I used to look forward to reading your book but I’m starting to lose interest.

Nicole looked at the clock in the room and said, “I’m kind of in a hurry so I’ll make my story brief and comprehensive. After breaking your heart, I owe you an explanation my darling Muhammad.” Muhammad tried switching on the radio on his belt, in hope that anyone on the other end could listen to the conversation if the signal was restored. If Maryam and he were going to die tonight, their death might as well not be in vain. The most important thing was revealing the real identity of The First One.

Tapi tiba-tiba hujan sangat deras, petir menyambar nyambar. Aku yang ketakutan, menggeser dudukku menempel tubuh Mas Fikri. Kutaruh kepalaku di pundaknya. Seperti biasa bermanja manja dengannya.

My friend forgot my little tent and I ended up getting soaked that night. I would have used other tents, unfortunately, they were all occupied. In the morning I was sent back because I got sick

The Billionaire's Secret Baby

The Billionaire's Secret Baby

The rain had not paused for ten days. It fell without mercy, turning the narrow streets of Port Harcourt into shallow rivers and the sky into a permanent gray shroud. Elena had not gone far. She had walked for hours that first night, soaked to the bone, until exhaustion forced her into a small, cheap hotel on the edge of town. Room 207. No view. No television. Just a single bed, a cracked mirror, and the sound of water drumming on the tin roof.

HIS MINI BEAR

HIS MINI BEAR

The air smelled of damp earth, of impending downpour. A low rumble of thunder growled in the distance. I barely had time to brace myself before the sky split open. The first drops were scattered, light, teasing— then came the downpour. Cold, relentless sheets of rain crashed down on me, soaking me within seconds. My hoodie, my jeans, even my shoes—nothing was spared. Water dripped from the tips of my hair, running in rivulets down my face, mingling with the warmth of my tears. It seemed like even God had turned against me tonight.

The first fat raindrops began to splatter against the pavement, and Polaris quickened her pace, seeking shelter from the impending storm. As Polaris hurried along the sidewalk, the sky darkened, and the first drops of rain began to fall. She quickened her pace, hoping to make it home before the storm hit in full force. Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve always been fascinated by how 'Seribu Satu Malam'—or 'One Thousand and One Nights' as it’s often called in English—isn't a single authored book but this huge, evolving collection. The core frame is so iconic: Shahryar, betrayed, starts marrying and executing a new bride each night until Scheherazade steps in. She tells a story each night but leaves it unfinished by dawn, so he spares her to hear the end. It’s a literal cliffhanger device from centuries ago. But the tales within, like 'Aladdin,' 'Sinbad,' and 'Ali Baba,' weren’t originally part of it; they were added by European translators like Antoine Galland. The true original roots are in Persian and Indian folklore, compiled and reshaped over centuries across the Arab world.

I think what’s most interesting is that there’s no definitive ‘original’ version. It’s a living text. Manuscripts vary wildly. The frame story provides this incredible meta-narrative about the power of storytelling itself—not just to entertain but to delay death and cultivate empathy. When you read it, you’re touching layers of history, a patchwork of cultures. The version we commonly know today is heavily filtered through 18th-century European Orientalism, which is why separating the ‘original’ from the adaptations feels like an archaeological dig. I love that it’s messy.
