District 33 is under the country called Hesteria. This place is divided into 3 areas: The town, the junkyard, and the slum. Wild forest surrounded this district. The town has its own wall that separates the two areas. Where most people have an average life, a mediocre, not too rich or too poor. Yet, still incomparable to the other areas of the said place. And they are under Government's care. The junkyard, a place where the waste of most districts are been dumped. This place is connected to the slums, where people in the slum get their materials and things for a living. They collect scraps in exchange for money or food.

I don't want any of us from District G to be eliminated. As our glass cylinder opens, all tributes started to run towards the Patag center to get some bags... for protection. And everyone started to beat each other until they'll be eliminated. Ulap, Token, Vani, Keithwarth, and I—the five hopes of District G, of Grass, shall let the letters let us... to live. And Giovanni, my Giovanni. I love him... because he is part of the team.

To the point that I could already memorize the grams and kilos without even placing the sack into the measuring scale. “Han?” He cocked his head to the side, waiting for my question. “From what I could recall, it was just the Torrids and Savanna that didn’t receive rations, right? The rest of the districts were within the area of responsibility of the capital and had military protection, right?” He nods. “Those from those districts are fully capable of surviving on their own. Laguna probably had citizens who were still benefitting from the rations since they mentioned that their economy had just boomed. Right?”

Mom’s voice sounded like a machine reading text. “There aren’t any Strains here, right? Except for you.” Windy eyed me while letting out a small laugh. “I’m not a Strains,” I defended myself. I was raised in the Naturals district, where only humans lived. Meanwhile, the Strains district was for the altered humans whose genetics had mixed and become inhuman. “You’re always wandering around alone, curious about the outside world. When there’s nothing out there but dust.” Windy pursed her lips. “Very ‘Strains-like,’ isn’t it?” she added mockingly.

Our district have the stench of hunger and dirt, while here it is just pristine. Little colorful lights line each house and it illuminates the clean street ahead as we walk on in silence, only the occasional neigh of horses which were owned only by the people in this district, disrupts the peace. The aroma of meals coming from each shimneys, made my taste buds water, the scent alone was enough to cure our district of starvation. Samuel must have informed the guards of our coming because no one disturbs or asks where we are going but they keep a sturdy eye on our movements.

I had no idea people were uprising like that. “What do you mean?!” He didn’t say anything else straight away, he just flipped the volume up on the news channel and watched my face drop in shock. He was right, news footage was covering eight districts showing their whipping stage burning in split screens on the old television, and underneath a revolving bar of information was seen. It said clear as day that sixteen human districts so far had committed the arson.

"Lauren, if people are greedy, wolves are way greedier. We are not one of them though but the two kingdoms are thirsty in power. They want more power that's why they are invading some Districts." "Have you been attack?" I asked again. Am I the type of person who tends to ask questions. I'm just glad that Jacob is willing to answer all of that. "Not yet. But there is a rumor that an alliance is being formed in the two Districts to attack here because it has reached them that the five territories here in the North are disintegrating." I am beyond speechless. I thought they lived quietly here, but no, war is also part of their lives.

Buying their properties, knowing what was coming, felt like a betrayal. “No need,” Ava said, her voice steady but tinged with conviction. “District 7 is mainly made up of single-story houses, and most of the residents are either elderly or families with limited options. If I were to buy their houses, where would they go? Even if I had the money, I wouldn’t feel at ease.”

Tea was served. Snacks too. And immediately the discussions began. At first, everything was going smoothly. Until they started arguing. Two women from different districts began shouting about food distribution. “No, your district already received more supplies last month!” “That’s because our population increased!” “You people waste resources!” “We do not!” I stared at them blankly. Oh God. Was this my life now? One of them suddenly turned toward me dramatically. “Luna, judge this matter!” My eyes widened immediately. “What?”
