Chapter 18 Elena gasped in shock as her body launched off the edge of the cliff and began to roll down the mountain. Tears streamed from her eyes and her screams intensified as she rolled down the mountain. With her eyes shut and her skin burning, her secrets intensified. She couldn’t break her fall, not that she had any strength to do so. Her body got hit over and over again as her forehead violently scratched different branches, her legs breaking through thick trunks, her back hitting hard rocks and her flesh being consumed by fire which didn’t seem to be reducing.

MARGO POV ****** I was at the edge of the cliff, staring at Eve but Instead of me holding onto her, it was in reverse, and when I looked down and saw just how daunting the way down looked, I turned to face her, my mouth opening to plead for my life, but it wasn't just Eve that was holding onto me, it was the faces of all the people I'd killed... And then I was plunging, falling fast, my scream fading in the air no matter how loud I yelled until I crashed to the floor beneath, my bone shattering into a million pieces.

"He took us to another dungeon and let us watch as a bunch of reapers he'd captured rip apart fifteen wolven kids- innocent kids, the eldest couldn't have been more than twelve. He then kept whispering in our ears. It is all your fault… you could have prevented this,"she paused, her voice came a little shaky. She sniffed.

I smiled at her before her head was again tilted back, and her mouth unwillingly opened. The vial tipped, and Elaine was forced to swallow the poison.

Nikos curls into a fetal ball, wheezing. Kyros turns to me. The boredom is gone. His eyes are black pits of rage. "Deal's off," he snarls. "Kill them all." He raises his hand to signal the guards. CRACK-BOOM. A shotgun blast tears through the clearing. The Reaper standing closest to Kyros spins around, his chest erupting in a spray of red. "Wolves!" Leon’s voice roars from the tree line. Chaos explodes. Muzzle flashes light up the woods like strobe lights. Bullets tear through the bark of the oak trees, sending splinters flying. The Reapers scramble for cover, returning fire blindly into the dark.

Opened the back door. Reaper stepped out. Suit and tie. Looked like he was going to church not a payoff. He walked to the pavilion. Sat down next to Marcus. Across from Dominic. Started talking. Maya's heart was pounding. This was it. The moment. Take the shot. End it. She put her eye to the scope. Found Reaper's head. Center mass would be safer but headshot meant instant. No chance to shoot back. Breathe. Squeeze. Don't pull.

“We need to stay in position. Harrison will have to take care of himself. We can't jeopardise the plan Gabriel you're too important.” Around them, the battle raged as Aria, Amelia, Jada, and Jasmyne galloped their horses in formation peeling off arrows at the incoming Reapers. From the safety of the tree line, the Council continued chanting, escalating the effects of the poison. As each Reaper was weakened, the wolves and bears took them down. Lucifer gazed out across the field and inspected the carnage. Aurora expected him to shout and curse the way Melloch had, to scream and bring about some kind of apocalypse but his face remained expressionless. When he had seen enough he closed his eyes

I flash him a brilliant grin, spin on my squeaking boot lifts, and bolt out the door. I watched as his eyes grew big, knowing that this was the end. "She is my mate Ryker and you could never destroy that," I said as I shook him violently and heard the snap of his neck in my mouth. I held on until I saw him shift back. I let go and just for good measure, I ripped a hole in the side of his neck. He was gone. Kendra was standing in front of us and I could see the relief in her eyes.
