Brynn stood there, watching me with so many emotions in her eyes that I immediately understood how it looked. I pushed away from Lauren, needing to explain that it was not what it looked like, but she shot off before I could even make it a few steps. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. This was not good. Every step felt like walking on thin ice. Suddenly, a loud, static chime echoed through the entire sector. The massive holographic billboards hovering over the central plaza flickered from colorful advertisements to a bright, flashing red alert. High-frequency sirens began to blare from the watchtowers above. I stopped in my tracks, my heart slamming against my ribs as I looked up at the sky. This had me thinking for a moment. Sure, I wanted him to mark me. In fact, the urge was stronger than ever now that we were talking about it. But was I truly ready? If he marked me on my neck/shoulder where I wanted him to mark me, in the spot that was visible to others, that could be a dead giveaway while I'm still Hunting. I couldn’t risk that, not yet. But if I had him mark me somewhere where it wasn't visible, then I could still be marked and still Hunt. But then later, when I want it to show, I don’t think it could be moved. This was difficult.

It’s the Game of Hunt.” A grin spreads across his face. “Each team will search the resort grounds for hidden treasures. Think of it like a scavenger hunt—but not so easy. Clues have been carefully planted, and only the team that finds all their assigned treasures wins.” A chorus of whoas rises from the group. “Sounds tough,” someone says. Daryl nods, still grinning. “There’s just one small problem,” he says, tapping his clipboard.

Claire interrupted, “What exactly is a Hunter?” He took a deep breath, steadying himself. “A hunter is a type of human who was or is a Mythical bounty hunter. They have enhanced skills; fighting abilities, enhanced senses. I think one or both of your parents were Hunters. Especially after seeing you in action.
