“I bring word from the Hollowed Court,” he said.
“There’s no Hollowed Court anymore,” Ember snapped. “It was annihilated before the veil even closed.”
“Not anymore,” the boy said. “Umbra opened it again. And it waits for your children.”
Lilly’s fingers went cold. “Why?”
“Because they’re the door,” he said. “And once they walk through, the world will never be the same.”
That night, Link couldn’t sleep. He lay beside Lilly, staring up at the ceiling, listening to the rhythm of her breathing, the soft sounds of their unborn children shifting.
