I caught her as she swayed, wrapping my arms tight around her, holding her close, her weight pressing against me, warm and solid and real. “I have you,” I whispered, my face pressed against her hair, my voice shaking with relief and love and grief. “I have you. You are safe.” Kael screamed again — a long, terrible sound — and then his body began to glow blinding white, light bursting out through every seam, every pore, tearing him apart from the inside out. “I AM THE KING!” He howled, voice breaking into a shriek. “I AM THE GOD! I AM—” There was a blinding flash, a deafening roar, and then — silence.

Ethan left the room, but this time he didn’t rush. Later he brought a tray filled with five plates of meals and a glass of orange juice. “Now, eat it. You’ll need a lot of energy.” “Do you cook it yourself?” “Of course not. I have a cook and a maid who helps me here.” I nodded. “You can pay a cook and a maid. Then you must be a rich man.” Ethan shrugged. “Well, I’m a leader. My people call me Alpha King. So, it’s normal, I guess.”

"They are both fine. Anna is simply sleeping; she will not remember any of this, and our young Dragon heir is thriving…come they are waiting for you." I tried opening my eyes once again, this time slower so I would not be bombarded with the bright lights. I could see the figure of a man. It looked like the same man who had been at the tree line when I had started to walk towards him. “Who are you?” I asked once again. “I am the King,” he replied. “Liar! I know who the King is, and he is not you,” I spit out. The man chuckled once again.

He didn't need his royal title to earn an enormous sum of money. But what about his goal? His purpose? He always wanted to be a King. Not because of some messily egoistic claim for power and riches, but because he loves his country. Been dreaming of a new era for his Kingdom. A country that would flourish and continue to flourish no matter the tribulations to come under his rule. This was already engraved in his bones. Set his future in stone. A title which already became a part of him, making him whole. This. This was something he could never give up.

"And Aris—or Daphne—don't wait for the next summit to show your hand. The world is much more fun when you have the right partner to explore with." I watched him walk away, the night air finally feeling clear. The thieves were in cells, the crown was back on the rightful head, and for the first time in three years, the road ahead wasn't a steep decline with broken brakes. It was wide open.

I stepped to the front of my car to match them. They looked at me proudly and stepped towards me. I smirked secretly and prepared myself. "Long time no see, King." he said with a smile but the irritation could be seen in his tone. I felt sorry for him while my two hands were still in my pocket. And so he called me King is because that’s what everyone calls me. Because I am the recognized King of all Kings by all because of my fighting skills that no one can beat me, I am also the richest man in the world.
