My voice was flat. "Divorce. Didn't we already agree?"
She tried to speak, but I cut her off. "I know everything about you and Alec. Don't bother—the more you talk, the cheaper you sound."
Her whole body collapsed, like air leaking from a balloon. The light in her eyes was gone.
Silent and heavy, she followed the lawyer's directions, and just like that, the divorce was done.
When she got her copy, she froze, then broke down crying. She wanted to say something, but I didn't look back. I just walked away.
