BRAD The city looked different on snowy nights. There were no stars in the sky just snow falling endlessly. I leaned closer to the glass, my hands in my pockets, my reflection staring back at me: sharp, calm. But right now I was far from calm. I was calculating. People always say every villain has an origin story. Maybe that's true, but I've never really considered myself a villain. No I actually see myself as the hero of this story. Most villains do what they do out of spite and anger, but not me. I do what I do because it's a necessary evil.

“And then, there you were, every inch the princess amongst your family… I realized that I was a villain, just like my father. And the villain doesn’t get the princess.” I wanted to tell him that he was wrong. He was not his father, not a villain, and this princess had always been his, but things had changed, and I could no longer make any promises to him. “I am sorry,” I told him gently. “I am sorry that I didn’t understand at the time. I didn’t try to understand. I should have done better…”

It just showed me, what great leader she would be. "What are you?" Someone in the crowd yelled. A smirked was begin to grow on my lips. " I am a ...Lucan princess! I have lived many lives and now I am one of few left of my species!" I yell out , to make sure everyone could hear me. Hundreds of gasps were heard after my statement. After a moment , people started to yell "Lies!" "Lucans are extinct!" "Liar!" "Kill this impostor!" "They all died after the Great War."

"I need to call the doctor. Melissa, can you watch her for me?" "Yes, Auntie Blare. I can watch her for you. I don't know if she still knows me, but I can earn her trust again. After all, I am her friend." She said elegantly with little hiccups, which made me hiss. Bitch, I swear I hate this woman's guts. What's up with her? Why do I feel she's not being herself? I swear she could bag Nobel awards home with her displays right now. She turns her head back at me with those pitiful eyes, and I shoot her back with blazing glares.

I hate how he has been so concerned about me the past few days. “Yes, I have but her line is out of service. I had tried to contact her best friend but she is not picking up. I have gotten the message. I think she wants nothing to do with me. I did her dirty. I almost got her killed. I am the villain in a lot of people’s stories nowadays.,” I say as I take another shot.

I dropped my forehead to her collarbone and clung to her like I was seven again and scared of the thunder. “You’re not a bad person, Sunflower,” she said softly, her breath warming the top of my head. “You’re just hurting.” I shook my head, fat tears dripping off my chin. “But I am the villain in someone’s story.” She pulled back just enough to meet my eyes. Her thumb gently brushed away a tear. “And sometimes,” she said, “the villain is just someone who didn’t know how to save herself.” My chest cracked open. Right there on the hardwood floor, I broke again, but this time, not from shame.
