The water washed away the tired look on my face but I couldn’t wash away the memories of the dream. It started off very similar to the last one. I was in the kitchen but this time when I heard the noise I ran out the front door but instead of going into the driveway I found myself in the middle of the pack house. Alpha Hunter was behind me and I ran for my life, going through twists and turns and then finally I saw him in front of me. I tried to go back the way I came but I was met with a blank wall and he gave me a feral smile.

If she drew blood nothing on the face of this earth would keep the other Hunter’s from finding me. In a desperate bid to untangle us I shoved her off, wincing when she hit the dirt, but it wasn’t her they were after. They’d leave her alone once I took off. The second my feet hit the ground I started running, but I was yanked back by a hand fisting my hair. Red-hot sparks flashed behind my eyes as I stumbled backwards, pulled by one of the Hunters. Well, there goes one kink they just ruined. “—get her over here. On the ground, quick!” I heard the second one hiss from somewhere just out of sight. “Get on with it before another Hunter shows up!”

The room is filled with the sound of shattering glass and scattered furniture. I move to follow, but Luke’s voice cuts through the chaos. “Don’t let them escape! We need to end this now!” I nod, determination fueling my every step. I’m not sure what I can do, but I can’t stand idly by while Luke fights for his life. I spot a fallen chair and grab a leg, holding it like a makeshift weapon as I advance toward the hunter. The hunter, noticing the pack’s renewed effort, starts to retreat, their movements increasingly frantic. Fortunately, he only suffered from a small fracture in his front left paw. “What are your plans?” Mr. Frank asked. “I’m going to continue traveling and stay as far away from this place as possible.” I was born in this city, but it rejected me. My own family wanted to suck my blood dry. My phone rang at that moment. It was an unknown number. I had blocked all of my family members’ numbers, and since I spoke to some advertisers from time to time, I answered the call. “You’re such an embarrassment! I didn’t use my powers because I need the person to look at me, and he ran away when I shot him. Kicking him, I turn him over. Then, scoffing, I see a hunter. “Well, well, well, now this is surprising,” I said, laughing. “What brings you here? You know you could have called and let me know you were coming over. I might have some tea prepare.”

The memory of his words slithered through me, his voice still echoing from that night when he marked me. "Run, little boy, run, because when we find you, we will hunt." "Promised? I have no idea what you’re talking about! I was running from my pack when you found me—they were going to kill me, I swear," he pleaded, but I didn't buy it. Couldn't. I knew his kind too well, knew what they lived for. They loved the thrill of the hunt, and I was just one more piece of prey.

John deliberately told his assistant to act clueless, and Stacy put on a show for a long time. In the end, she really lost the baby. When she woke and touched her flat belly, she went mad. She screamed everywhere looking for John, yet she could not find him. He had gone to a remote village in England, where he was squatting on my doorstep. I had not expected John to find me so quickly. Maybe I could still disappear. Maybe… A sharp branch tore across my cheek. I winced and stumbled. I was a hunter, and should know these woods better. But look at me spinning me in circles. My feet slammed into another cluster of rocks. I barely jumped in time, causing my knees to scream at the pressure.

Before the exclamations finish fighting for dominance in my head, I dash off; racing away from the alter with a burst of speed no one anticipated. "After her. Now!" Father commands as I race away from the ruined ceremony. Footsteps ring out after me as trained hunters from our pack dive after me in hot pursuit. I might not be trained, but I am sneaky, and my being annoyingly small gives me a lot of bonus points when it comes to running away. I know, I've tried. I make it out of the building and head in the direction of the parked vehicles, but run straight into a wall. A very warm, very moving wall.

When she said this, she faced the other way and began running. “Rebecca!” Hunter could see her running away. Her jet-black hair swayed from one side to the other as she ran. Feeling his heartbeat get faster, his mind run wild, he lifted his arm and pointed his gun. With his hand shaking he aimed... and then... Pow!
