The Rejected Omega Mate
I struck a flint against a rock, and after several tries, a spark finally caught, igniting the pile of leaves and twigs and sending a small flame flickering into life.
I sat back down on the rock, feeling the warmth of the fire against my skin. The forest was silent around me, and I could feel the weight of its emptiness pressing down on me.
As I sat there, watching the flickering flames of the fire, I felt a deep sense of loneliness and isolation. What was I doing? Different thoughts filled my head throughout the night.
With a deep breath, I settled down onto the hard ground, wrapping my jacket tightly around me. The fire crackled and danced, casting a warm glow over my face.
