I woke up before my alarm or before Mom could call... I went straight to the shower and ran cold water over my hair before I took a shower and got ready for School... CHAPTER 18 ROWAN I must have dozed off sometime after Lucien left. The books were scattered all around me on the bed like guilty little secrets, and that filthy one, Eternal Bonds was still open right on my chest. The pages were crumpled from how tight I had gripped them while reading. My eyes had gotten so heavy in the middle of another steamy chapter. The dirty words had blurred together into pure heat and fantasy until sleep finally pulled me under completely. The dream started out almost innocent. Or at least as innocent as anything involving the Varyn kings could ever be.

And I had been foolish enough to feel guilty, desperate to cure his legs as if I owed him everything. The tears I shed now washed away the last fragments of attachment I had for him. This false marriage, carried on for five years, needed to end here. As I closed my eyes and finally let go, a cold mechanical voice rang through my mind. "Host, the system has detected a second mission failure. Do you wish to terminate it?"

Enough to finish what I had left to do, enough time to meet up with people I wanted and say my goodbyes. When I looked up again, he was gone. The old lady in the next bed said to me in a heavy accent, "That young man ran out of here in a hurry. Said he was going to get something, and he ran like the wind." I gave her a grateful smile, then rummaged through my bag for a book to pass the time. Before long, I drifted off to sleep. When I woke again, the sky outside the window was streaked with the orange of dusk.

By the time Jake was done narrating the ordeal, my whole face was red and my heart was drumming ferociously in its cage. Truth is, the dream was about Jake and me. Jake was Cephaus Demario and I was Cleopatra. Both of the characters from my favourite romance novel ‘Chained lusts’. In the dream, Jake and I were getting intimate. I have been having such dreams ever since the night that he and I kissed. I never expected that I would blurt my dream in my sleep. I wonder what he thinks of me now. Oh no, what if he thinks that I am a pervert whose only intention is to get in his pants? I have to do something before he starts doubting my intentions.
