••NO POV•• "Let me show you something interesting!" Florentia giggled, Alexandra looked confused, "Interesting?" A dim glow from the bedside lamp casts soft shadows across the room, highlighting the delicate golden key in Alexandra’s palm. It was small, light, and seemingly ordinary, but Florentia’s expression said otherwise. “This,” Florentia said, her voice low and measured, “isn’t just any key, Alexa, this is a legacy, a weapon, and now, it belongs to you.”

Adrian wondered who had set this up. As he pondered, he realized he could see the world outside the blue light. It was essentially a means of transporting to the external realm. This discovery astonished him. Tyron echoed Adrian’s amazement, saying, “This is truly a remarkable item! I wonder who placed such a treasure here. If the owner finds out we’ve taken it, we’ll definitely be in for a world of trouble.” Adrian replied with a calm smile, “Anyone who leaves behind such a gruesome item can’t be considered a good person. Given how much time has passed, why should we concern ourselves with such a matter?”

He frowned and I nodded. “Yup, it’s all here.” I clung to the bed cover. “Are you telling me this is all you have?” He frowned and I nodded. “You said something about breakfast?” I knew what he was getting at, and I wasn’t going to discuss it. I knew from my experience in cleaning that girls who were ranked owned more things. As a rogue, I only had the essentials, and, of course, a couple of books.

I was already used to the dark, so I could see through it perfectly. The first place I went to was the place I placed my precious diamond necklace. I consider that treasure precious because it was the last gift my late wife had given to me before she was gruesomely killed. He looks like sin and spreadsheets. “You stole my mug,” I say. “I borrowed it,” he corrects. “It was the least offensive one in the cupboard.” “It’s mine,” I say. “Yes,” he says. “That’s why I took good care of it.” “You—” I sputter. “That’s not the point.” “You have a point?” he asks mildly. “Yes,” I say hotly. “Everything in this house is yours. The gates. The walls. The knives. The very scary espresso machine. I have approximately three objects to my name in this entire place, and you decided to lay claim to one of them?”

“Let’s say I believe you. I do not know how that is good for you. What use do I have for leaving you both alive?” Spock guffawed but had nothing to say. Jimmy began speaking really fast. “All I know is that our master sent us out to fetch the key. When we found out the key was a necklace in the hands of a poor farm girl, it seemed too easy to acquire with just a couple parlor tricks. It didn’t have to go this far.” Stefan turned back towards them in a singular robotic motion. “Well, that was your hint, wasn’t it? If something seems too good to be true…” He let his voice trail off, continuing to swing around the bloody arrow as if it were a teaching instrument.
