I shouted, but the darkness consumed me once more. After another period of unconsciousness, I awoke again in bed, my head pounding. Vivid flashes assaulted my mind—scenes of devastation and horror. I saw the Alpha, cradling his pregnant mate, begging Ruth for mercy, only to witness the brutality that followed. Ruth’s long nails pierced the Alpha’s mate, pulling out the child and discarding the lifeless bodies to the ground. The Alpha, utterly defeated, wept in despair, kneeling before Ruth. I was horrified to see her kick his head away as if it were nothing.

“Warning me? What are you going to do, Lyra? Scream? No one will come. You are mine now.” He lunged forward, grabbing me. I let out a scream, struggling against his powerful grip. I fought with every ounce of strength I had, but it was no use. He was too strong.
