Icarus Laughed As He Fell Novels & Stories

"And you're welcome." I closed the inches between us and was about to float us back to our world, when Iris' body was tossed into one of the main pillars. The concrete crumbled, splitting into rocks, raining down on the living and the dead. "Iris!" Ludovic ran into the rubble, unbothered about his life. "Are you okay?" He lifted one rock after another, shouting her name. "Iris, talk to me. Say something." "She can't join us to play anymore, loverboy. Join your mate in the afterlife."

Tears burned behind my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I turned to leave. To escape, but in my haste, my heel slipped on spilled champagne. I fell hard. Flat on my back. The courtyard erupted into laughter and at that point I wished the ground could swallow me whole.

Autumn felt her world collapse in slow motion as Iris pushed her. The last thing she saw was the shock etched on Iris’s face before Ivan suddenly appeared beside her, standing frozen in disbelief. The moment stretched endlessly, but then gravity took over, and Autumn’s head plummeted towards the unforgiving concrete floor below.

I moved, but Demetrius stopped me. “I will be fine, you can support your father in fighting the remaining accomplice of Icarus.” I patted his back and started running back into the woods. Icarus was breathing heavily and cowardly. I straightened my hands to his legs and he stumbled on an invisible rock and fell, rolling on the dry forest rustled leaves.

“You sheltered her. Protected her. But even now, your loyalty is divided between your rebellion and your feelings.” Lucian’s shadows darkened around him. Cassian finally looked back at Icarra. “Only I can offer clarity.” Icarra laughed. The sound surprised everyone. It wasn’t soft, it wasn’t uncertain, it was sharp. Mocking. Cassian’s brow lifted slightly. “You think this is amusing?” “No,” Icarra said. Her silver eyes burned brighter. “I think it’s pathetic.” The clearing fell silent again. She stepped forward. The earth responded instantly, silver veins of light threading beneath her feet.

Panic flares up loud and clear while Theo screams at me to fix it and not say anything so stupid again. “It was a joke,” I scramble, taking a step forward only to jump back when I realize that just makes shit worse. “I-I thought a joke would make things better. Shit. Fuck. Shitfuck! I’m so fucking so…” “It’s okay, Lucian,” Iris cuts in, a wobbly smile taking her lips as she rubs her tears away. “It did. It really did.” Then why the fuck are you crying?!

With a more villain like laugh, she then touch the assessment crystal and then. BOOM It explode. Everyone present are dumfounded seeing what happen in front of them. The maid lose it conciousness seeing the crystal exploded. Seeing Hana give out more evil laugh made me shaking my head. Trouble alredy coming before we start our own mission.
