As Caleb’s hand settled against my back once more and guided me toward the center dance floor, Nebula’s satisfied purring echoed through my mind like distant thunder. The world would end in less than a month. But tonight? Oakhaven belonged to me.

Maya lets go and runs. "Thursday," she mutters, as smoke rolls over the skyline. Dex looks at her. "What?" "The world ends on a Thursday." Something screams from inside the building above them. Maya starts climbing down.

The grinder is a prop. It will stop on its own in a minute. Shane, stop overreacting and come back to cook. Eric loves your cooking.” Before I could reply, she hung up. A second later, the rope snapped. My mother screamed as she fell. I lunged forward, trying to shield her with my own body. I was too late. My mother died right before my eyes. A broken scream tore from my throat.

It's just that I've heard so many things about the end of the world and it just hunts me and makes me think too deeply. What if there will be no new era after this? What if we're just looking forward to nothing? What if the 'end of the world' in the book I've read really is true? What if the mess that humans made is already too much to handle that it'll even give up on fighting to keep us alive? No one knows... And that's why we definitely need to succeed for this. We aren't heroes but we can still save this world without those damn powers from fantasy books that really keep on making me wonder but that's just useless so better just focus on this mission than think of useless things.
