The night sky, filled with a terrifying aura, had truly never changed; in fact, it grew more terrifying with each passing day, striking fear into every living creature in the world. And now, exactly ten years after the emergence of that terrifying darkness, everyone realized that this was the end of the world—and of them all.

Another hundred million more died soon after, victims of the swift and deadly killer that was radiation sickness. Worldwide infrastructure failed in less than a day-everything from microchips to national power grids were fried by the blasts.

And somewhere in the darkness of the world, the final prison remained the only barrier preventing complete catastrophe. The Final War was accelerating. And for the first time, even the Echo looked uncertain about how it would end.
