“Did you hear about the Leanders?” a woman with too many jewels and a shrill laugh asked, her eyes gleaming with malicious delight. “Their daughter, the blind one, supposedly caught the attention of someone from House Ares.”
A man with a paunch and a self-satisfied smirk nodded, taking a slow sip of his wine. “I heard the same. A soldier, they say. Some low-ranking brute who got lucky during the chimera attack. Can you imagine? A daughter of Poseidon, with a dog of Ares? It’s a disgrace.”
