"Since the matter was unclear and you were yet to wake up we didn't allow her to go... She... She is still in the basement!" Ryan was standing motionlessly for a couple of seconds processing his assistants word but all of a sudden, as if he was slapped to reality, he jolted up and hurried in the direction of the basement. Jack ran behind him; prisoners were never treated politely in custody, they will be kept in rhe worst possible situation. If they are proven innocent then the person will be let free but if found guilty there won't be any compromise, the culprit will be given the most brutal punishment or at worst, death. It was how it worked in underground.

She knew better than to converse with prisoners, especially those held in such dungeons. “Wait,” he stopped her. “Please,” his voice held compelling pain. “Help me” “I have no business here” she said against her better judgement. “Only high rated criminals are subjected to such dungeons” “I'm innocent” he beseeched. “I've done nothing wrong!” His arm rattled the chains “If you don't help me, they'll kill me” Nevaeh knew she should go, but a small curious part of her kept her feet rooted to the spot. The man's words hammered heavy like the truth, but that was not a guarantee. Most criminals would say anything to save their skin, and yet-

* * * After speaking with the detective James returned to his cell and sat on his bed,series of thoughts on how to escape from the prison kept running through his mind. "How I wish I can just escape from this damn prison and find a way to prove my innocence".James who was lost in thought didn't know when he uttered the statement. One of the prisoners in the cell opposite James heard him and he felt so sorry for him. "There's no way you can possibly escape from here".The prisoner said. James turned around to see who uttered the statement. "This prison is filled with CCTV cameras and apart from that the security here is tight so it'll be a suicide miss

The first thing Quinn saw was an aerial shot from one of the transports that ferried prisoners into the Ideological Quarantine Area, or IQA-14. What had once been a good, honest gravel pit, with a lake at the bottom, had been transformed into a primitive open-air prison where inmates were free to do anything they pleased so long as they stayed in the pit. Not that they had much choice, since the sides were too steep to climb and weapon emplacements ringed the top. Thanks to the rebellion, there were thousands of what amounted to political prisoners, or unreliables as the government called them. Some were true die-hard loyalists, but many were little more than street people.

"Can I talk to them? With you and Katherine there? Please?" Against my better judgment, I agreed. The twelve prisoners were held in secure rooms in the basement. They looked terrible. Injured, exhausted, their faces showing the defeat of true believers whose faith had been shattered. The oldest, a man perhaps fifty with burns covering half his face, spoke first when Luna entered with Katherine and me.

Cops exchanged uneasy glances with each other before the seniormost mustered the courage to speak, "Mr. Serrano, if she is innocent then a search would only confirm it." Nate prowled towards the cop, his gaze on him, hard and unyielding- a silent promise of consequences if overlooked. "I do not doubt her innocence," he made it clear and continued, " And no one will touch her. If you have suspicions then search this damned place. Wreck it, bring it down, I don't give a fuck, but no one..." his voice thickened with something dangerous as he seethed, "no fucking one is laying a finger on her."

He even came to me, asking if I wanted to pick out tokens for our mate bond ceremony. At that moment, I decided to give him one last chance. I had no idea my final act of hope would become my prison. I died because I was too soft-hearted in love.
