One could tell it was dangerous. Suddenly two shadows emerged from the dark five steps from where she stood. She step back watching the two shadows cautiously. "No!" One of the shadows cried. Its voice covered with fear. The other shadow took out something that looks like a gun and pointed it at the other one. "This is my parting gift for you." The shadow whispered before pulling the trigger. A loud bang echoed in the whole place, taking away the stillness of the night.

She once searched for absolution from her duties but knew it would never be granted. Several minutes slipped away before she painstakingly set the ledger on the third shelf. She knew that before sunrise, she would add the second name. It was the second name she was having trouble accepting. It was the second name she could not admit to. Sitting at the desk, unsure of what to do, it finally came to her. Retrieving a blank journal from the second drawer, she opened the cover. After reflecting on a single word, she began her story. “Darkness,” she again whispered.

"ADAM! ADAM, OPEN THE DOOR!" No Answer. "ADAM!" My heart was pounding. I didn't know what to do. I tried kicking the door, but Adam had changed the screws on all the doors, making it extremely difficult to break them down. I ran into the kitchen and grabbed the fire extinguisher. When I returned to Adam's room, I broke a hole in the door, right next to the knob. I reached in and opened the door from the inside. I was horrified by what I prayed I would never see again. Adam was unconscious on the floor.

She nodded, seeming a bit surprised though she had found the book in the beach house, probably assuming I've never read it. "It’s about overcoming tough beginnings and finding beauty in broken places. It’s sad but also hopeful." Her voice softened and she looked thoughtful.

I had enough to deal with right now, I don't need a love triangle mixed into it. Ruby finally came into the room a little while later holding the book and she had a really horrible look on her face. "What's wrong?" I asked. "I think I just found out how they made it into our Kingdom." She says. "Well, don't keep us in suspense. How?" Jackson asked. "The Land of Darkness is also called Hitch Hikers. They will piggyback off of a portal and follow people through without the people knowing." She says. And I looked at Jackson.

Never in my life have I thought that I'll be this terrified to enter my own room. It feels tragic.
