“Magic is not a toy,” she said as she began to write glowing symbols midair with a finger. The symbols flared, then dissolved. “It is not a weapon—at least, not yet. Magic is will, memory, instinct, and for you House Pyra students, magic is fire. If you cannot control yourself, you cannot control your magic.”
Her eyes swept the room, pausing on me for a moment too long before she continued.
“Every student here is brimming with untamed power. Some of you more than you realize. Today, you’ll learn your first lesson: how to silence your mind long enough to hear the pulse of your own magic.”
