Levi tilted his head, studying me with mild interest, as though I were an inconvenience rather than a mother whose world he had obliterated.
“My daughter,” I continued, my hands curling into fists. “She was innocent. Her only crime was being your granddaughter.”
Something inside me cracked open at the memory of Fiona’s small body, cold and lifeless, wrapped in white. The last piece of humanity I had left shattered completely.
Levi sighed, waving one hand dismissively. “I never meant for the kids to die,” he said casually. “I only wanted to distract and scare Rolex. Things got out of hand.”
