A shimmering distortion appeared in the center of the room. It wasn't a wolf. It was a machine. A massive, three-meter-tall exo-suit, plated in dull titanium and humming with a low-frequency pulse, materialized from the shadows. The visor was a flat, clinical red.
"Director Vane," Victor’s voice came from the stairwell. He burst into the room, his clothes shredded, his body a map of fresh, weeping gashes. "You coward. You came for the scrap?"
