I like the author.” She admitted as she put the books in the cart. “I saw that movie.” Gigi pointed to a popular book that had been made into a blockbuster.

When my shift ended, I found myself walking toward the corner table where Kael sat, his laptop closed now, a book in his hands. I stopped short when I saw the cover. ‘Knot We Cannot Untie.’ That was the book he was holding. I can't believe that Kael would be reading one of Linda Lively’s books. “You read… this?” I said, the surprise evidently in my voice. Kael looked up, one brow raised. “Why? You think I only read racing magazines and bank statements?” I gave a small laugh. “Chill bro. It’s just… not what I was expecting ”

He suddenly handed me my phone back which I almost forgot to get from him. "Here. You've been receiving messages from this guy named Mill by the way. I didn't open it though. The pop up just appeared." He said. I grabbed my phone and quickly placed it inside my pocket. "Uh, my books?" I asked him. "Don't worry, I'll carry it for you." I blushed. "It's fine. I can bring them." I insisted. "No, it's okay. I'll bring them." He smiles kindly.

“Agreed?” I nodded, relief loosening the tension in my chest. “I was about to say the same thing. Right now, Nova is the only person whom I have told about this and she could keep a secret.” He nods, relieved to hear my answer. Then he hesitated, as if weighing his next words. “Where did you get the book?” he finally asked, his voice low. I straightened, steadying myself before answering. “Giselle gave it to me,” I answered watching his reaction closely. “I don’t know where she got it.”

I had already gotten to the third chapter and figured I should go on with it if I wanted to sign off on the business deal with Giveon Ventures. After reading for one hour, I realized I had not heard Ma Cleopatra's voice after my parents and Ivy had left. I dropped the book and headed downstairs to search for Ma Cleopatra. I found her cleaning up the dishes and moved forward to ask what I was having for dinner.
