His thumb gently brushed over my swollen, wet lip, wiping away the faint trace of his breath.
"This isn't over," Alexander rasped softly, his voice thick with an obsessive, dark promise that sent a cold, thrilling shiver straight through my core. "You can fight it all you want, Bellona. But when we clear this siege... there will be nowhere left for you to hide from me."
He unlocked the brass handle and eased the heavy door open, stepping back out into the corridor as the estate sirens echoed through the stone walls.
