I count three beats, letting my claws slide out just a fraction. "What do you want?" I ask, turning my head slightly. Isac stands there. His blue eyes are bright in the shadows, a cruel, mocking smile stretching across his face. He does not stop walking. He closes the distance between us with terrifying speed. I hold my ground, bracing my weight on my back foot. "Get away from me." "I want you dead," Isac whispers. Before I can blink, his hand snaps sideways. His fingers lock around my throat like an iron vise. He lifts me clean off the floor, slamming my back into the stone pillar.
