I closed my eyes, reminding myself of that fateful night when I did the unthinkable just to save her life. Twenty years ago, before my hatred for the vampires and werewolves, I met her father, Alucard, a thousand-year vampire. He had gone into hiding with the woman he loved because his love for her wasn't approved by Raven's father, who is the king of all vampires in Velmora and beyond. Alucard and his lover lived in the woods, and I became friends with them, often visiting. They were really nice and loved each other. They also loved Aria, who was peacefully growing in her mother's womb.

**Alina's POV** Blood splattered across the ground as the vampire's lifeless body crumpled, his severed head slipping from my grasp. The metallic scent clung to the air, thick and suffocating. I barely had time to breathe before another lunged at me, claws slashing through the night. I sidestepped, raking my own claws across his throat. A gurgled hiss escaped him as black blood oozed down his chest.

Zelda. Brenda's hands tightened on my shoulders. "Remember what I said? It ends here," she hissed. I swallowed hard and fretfully turned back to look behind me, I wanted to push her off me but I also knew that any wrong move from me would make the situation worse. Suddenly, A car screeched loudly to a halt nearby, distracting Brenda momentarily. As she turned, a stranger emerged—a man with blazing golden eyes. My gazes locked on his, and a surge of energy coursed through me. Strength I'd never known surged through my limbs.

The closest wolf shifts back to his human form, a disgusting leer on his face as he stands in front of me, too close, so I'd have to touch him to go anyw

He grumbled a little before muttering incoherent words beneath his breath, but I caught most of it. "...always frolicking... is that what all women without wolves do..." My body went rigid.
