She was looking at the teen with a smiling face. Elise reached out to her, and the familiar script was before her. It was the papyrus scroll of the Book of Gates. How could her grandmother take a hold of the ancient papyrus scroll, which was believed to be a myth? Why was it in her hands instead of inside Eric’s bag? The Book of Gates gave her the answer she was seeking—how to defeat Priestess Nehes. She would have to use her own magic and creativity based on it. She thought it would be different from the underworld anyway.

Why would Maggie’s ancestors want to conjure and evil spirit or raise the dead? Fascinated by the pull of the words on the page, she softly whispered the Bring Forth the Dead Incantation. A cold chill swept over her and her temples throbbed. She carefully placed the ribbon down the interior binding of the pages and closed the book shut. The crystal didn’t look quite so out of place as it lay against the bottom of the pages. In fact, there was so much room between the size of the cover and the size of the pages that crystal tucked right up into the gap when she set the book on end. It was a perfect fit.

“Hey… about what you saw earlier.” She jumped, clutching the book to her chest. “I—I didn’t see anything. I swear. I won’t tell anyone.” I smiled softly and stepped even closer, backing her gently against the shelves. “Relax. Professor Harlan and I… we have an understanding. But I saw how you looked at us. You didn’t run away because you were scared. You ran because it turned you on, didn’t it?” Her cheeks burned brighter. She shook her head quickly. “No… that’s not… I’m not—”

Adrian closed his eyes. For a moment, the world felt simple. But far above the city… Inside the citadel… The Demon King sat awake. Cassian stood nearby, having delivered the rest of his report. Vaelreth’s golden eyes were darker now. “He is human,” the king said slowly. “Yes.” “Humans seek comfort.” Cassian said nothing. Vaelreth leaned back against his throne. Yet despite the calm tone of his voice, something unfamiliar twisted quietly in his chest.

CHAPTER 2 RESENTMENTS, REVENGE The next thing Sisu knew was that she woke up in Sian’s body. Sisu had no knowledge of who she was before she became a ghost or why and how she died in the first place, even her name was something she knew nothing about. The last thing she could remember was a little girl’s voice calling Sisu, and hearing the name, Sisu felt the strong connection and regarded it as her name immediately. Sisu knew that starting today, she would have to live for this girl and help her take revenge. She wouldn’t want to live her life just like Sian did, dying just like that. Her will wouldn’t let her.

Her eyes began to glow when she opened them and I was scared a little, "Men from far, men nearby," she whispered, chanting what seems to be a spell, "—To you, we will be harmless flies, cork the ears of the foolish and the wise, lower the veils across their eyes." The place fell quiet. Noticing that we were back where we met, I swallowed hard, wondering why are we here, "Umm... I thought you said W.I.K.D is just behind those bushes," I swallowed hard, "They are... But do you trust me?"

he answered me. His voice sounds very convincing and I think he makes sense as well. Because if Sushi is really bad, he can take my soul while I sleep. Sushi has a lot of chances to kill me but he never did. Instead, he's acting like a normal puppy without any abilities. I was surprised when I felt Elijah's fingers on my chin and he lifted my face so that our eyes met. His eyes are like a sparkling universe. There are stars in it, galaxies, and other heavenly bodies. Why are his eyes so beautiful?

Letting their closeness comfort me, the way it always has. It’s not too long before Issac comes back with three books handing each of us a book. I look over the maroon colored book that looks to be centuries old and place my fingers over the title. ‘The Golden Goddess.’ My eyes look back up to Issac and he smiles. “We don’t have a lot on the golden wolf here. Maybe the king can help us get a few more books to research. Or we can ask him what he knows.” He says and I shake my head, “I don’t want to know what he knows. If the books are out there, I’ll find them myself.” Issac looks disappointed but nods and looks back at the book.
