Isaiah POV After picking up Rodrigo, I was anxious to get back to the pack house. Sinclair is there and I am desperate to find out if she is my mate. If it’s not her, then it’s Kaia. She’s the bigger pain in my ass. She is always flirting and carrying on with all the warriors. It would drive me insane if we were mates. As Rodrigo steps off the plane, I greet him. “Hey man. Julian busting your balls, huh?” I smirked. “If it wasn’t for Aiden getting me out of there, I know that Julian would have stopped at nothing.” He said. He breathed a sigh of relief. Clearly, he was stressed out until he got here. “My brother is pretty good like that. He will always help someone who needs it.” I said proudly. My brother is kind of my hero, if I’m honest. He always knows what to do and always anticipates what’s next. The only time I ever saw him hopeless was when he thought his mate Thalia was going to marry that asshole, Armando. The only other person I think is better than Aiden would be our dad. Of course, dad will tell you he isn’t half the man he is today without my mom. I think that Aiden may share that same sentiment too. It’s why I want to find my mate. It’s either Sinclair or Kaia. I turned both of them and left as instructed. I didn’t realize until the next day, after they had left, that one of them was my mate. “Well, I’m ready to go. I didn’t bring anything. Just the clothes on my back and my work bag. I am going to need help making sure it is secure and hacker-proof.” I said. “Sinclair is at the pack house right now. I’m sure she can help you out.” I said. I’m anxious to get back anyway. “That would be great. You don’t think she’d mind, do you?” Rodrigo asked. “Nah. She will probably find it fun.” I smirked. We made our way back to the pack house and as soon as we stepped inside, Sinclair was there. We looked at each other with wide eyes. She’s not my mate… That means Kaia is my mate. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Why? Why is she, my mate? Of course, I want her. I won’t go against the Moon Goddess, but damn it, why? “I guess you have your answer.” She said with a smile. Honestly, she looks relieved. Did she not think I am good enough to be her mate? “I guess so.” I said. “So, when is she getting here?” “Not for a few months.” Sinclair said. I feel my temperature rising. “A few months?!” I said loudly. “Why?!” Sinclair shrugged, “That’s her story to tell, Isaiah.” Rodrigo suddenly speaks up. I forgot he was standing beside me. “Sinclair?” “That’s me. Weren’t you here before?” Sinclair asked. “Your Thalia’s kid brother?” He scowled at her. “I’m no kid.” He said. “I was wondering if I could ask for your help.” “Depends. What do you need?” She replied. “I have my laptop with me. I need to make sure no one can hack in from the server it’s connected to and keep the information safe. I’m laying low here for a while.” Sinclair’s eyes lit up. “Sure! Let’s go to the common area. It should take only ten minutes and then you should be good to go. I will make sure no one is in it first and if it’s been hacked, it’ll make it more fun for me.” She said, smiling. She then turns to me, “Are you okay, Isaiah?” Am I okay? I know who my mate is now, but she isn’t here and won’t be for a few months. “I don’t know.” “Well, you do have her number you know.” Sinclair reminded me. That made me cheer up very little. How do I approach this with her? She is a huge flirt and a pain in my ass. She will likely laugh at me and then taunt me. “Thanks. I will leave you two to figure out the tech stuff.” I said and then told Rodrigo, “Your room is just down the right hall. It’s the third room on the left.” “Thanks for everything Isaiah.” He said, finally looking at ease. “Anytime.” I replied, and I am anything but at ease. I make my way to my room on the beta floor and once inside, I flop down on the sofa and rub my hand through my hair. I am not ready to call Kaia. I was anxious to find out who my mate was, but deep down, I was hoping it would be Sinclair. It isn’t though. It’s Kaia. She’s beautiful, sure, but I don’t think she likes me anyway. ‘She’s, our mate. I want our mate.’ Storn whined in my head. ‘I know. But she isn’t going to be easy to deal with Storn.’ ‘I like that. I don’t want a boring mate. Kaia has always been fun. You need fun in your life Isaiah.’ ‘I don’t even think she likes me. If I’m being honest, I saw Sinclair’s reaction of relief. I don’t think she likes me either.’ I said. ‘Kaia is our mate. OURS. Moon Goddess paired us.’ He insisted. I looked at my phone and then called Aiden. I needed to update him about Rodrigo anyway. After two rings, he picks up. He is breathing hard and I’m pretty sure I know what he just finished doing. “Everything okay?” He asked, catching his breath. I chuckled, “Yeah, bro. Rodrigo and Sinclair are both here.” “Oh yeah? And?” Aiden asked, clearly meaning if I am mated to Sinclair. “It’s Kaia.” I said. He starts laughing, but not in a ‘making fun’ kind of way, but a happy laugh. “Hey man! That’s great! When is she getting back?” “Not for a few months.” I said, frustrated. “I asked Sinclair why, but she said it wasn’t her story to tell.” Aiden stopped laughing. “I’m sorry, Isaiah. If I could get back earlier, I would. Thalia and I have to be here though.” “Man, I know. Don’t worry about it.” I hear Thalia in the background. “Why not call her? I gave you their numbers.” “I know. I just don’t think she likes me, so I am a little nervous about calling her.” Thalia then says, “Kaia is a great woman, and you are an awesome man and beta, Isaiah. You two are mated for a reason. Besides, the mate bond is going to pull you two together. I think it will be fun to watch honestly.” She finished as she chuckled. “Yeah, well, it’s late. I’ll call her tomorrow. Sorry for disturbing you so late. I just wanted to give you the update before I went to bed.” I said. “Alright. Good night bro.” Aiden said. “Good night.” I said and hung up. I rest my head back on the sofa and sigh. Tomorrow, I will call her. I got up to go to bed and my phone buzzed. I looked down and it’s Kaia. [Kaia: So…we’re mates. Now what?]Kaia POVYesterday was the funeral. Everyone was sad. It’s expected. It seemed split, though. It seems there was some sadness over Amber’s death, but most of it was over Adrian. We all know what he suffered during his time with Amber.Isaiah told me what he and Adrian talked about. It’s understandable why he was so heartbroken. He said some kind words about Amber, and as the funeral was ending, her aunt showed up.Apparently, Isaiah helped Adrian locate her. Her eyes were swollen from crying, but she was quiet. Later, she and Adrian went to talk. When they came back, she looked somber. Adrian must have told her everything, and she must feel bad about her niece’s actions. We put her in a room in the pack house until we can hear from Sinclair. Once she confirms his location, she will update us. It seems strange that it is taking this long, though. I would have thought she would have had information by early afternoon.I’m walking towards Isaiah’s office to see if he has heard from Sincl
Isaiah POVI’m talking to Aiden in my office when Kaia walks in. She is wearing black stretch pants and a black maternity dress shirt. She is ready for the funeral as well. She also has her phone in her hand."Guys, I updated Sinclair. She said she is closing in on Ronan. She needs predictive software. He's bouncing between three different locations, and she wants to understand the pattern.”Aiden answered before me. “Done. Tell her to get it, and I will reimburse the cost.”She sent the message, and within a minute, Sinclair responded. Kaia smiled at the message.“What did she say?” I asked.“She said that she will hopefully have something by tomorrow.”“That fast?” Aiden asked, surprised.“Once she figured out the best way to track that bastard, it became easy for her. We will get him.”From behind us, we heard Adrian. “Sinclair found him?”Kaia answered. “Almost. Hopefully by tomorrow.”“Then I’m not leaving until we know for sure,” he said determinedly.Aiden stood up. “Adrian, yo
Sinclair POVI’m in the woods, letting Mali run. We are feeling the air whip through our fur. I’m smiling. I feel carefree. I feel…content.I see a pond. It looks serene. Honeysuckle vines are climbing up trees, and bushes are everywhere, releasing a sweet smell. The pond looks like glass, and I can see the clouds reflected in the sky above it. It looks almost too perfect.I hear rustling behind one of the trees. Mali takes a defensive stance.‘What is it, Mali?’‘I don’t know. Something doesn’t feel right. This whole place doesn’t feel right.’The rustling continues, and in the distance, a man appears. He looks pained…hurt. I stay still. He comes towards me. But then, there is another person with him. A woman. She has a black ring around her neck. What the hell is this? They don’t seem to notice me. I don’t want them to notice me either.‘Mali, let’s go.’But Mali doesn’t move. She tilts her head, looking at the man and woman in the distance. She is very interested in the scene unfol
Isaiah POVWhen I got the text from Adrian, I knew something was terribly wrong. Kaia saw, rather felt, my anxiety.“What’s wrong?” she asked.“Adrian said the mate bond snapped with Amber and that her wolf was gone. Doctors and nurses were in her room, treating her.”She sucked in a breath. “She’s gone, isn’t she?”“I think so, but Adrian hasn’t confirmed. I told him to call Aiden.”“You should call Aiden. Adrian isn’t thinking straight.”She’s right, so I called Aiden.“Hey, bro. What’s up?”“Adrian needs us. Can you get to Ironclaw?”“What happened?” Aiden asked seriously.I told him about the text messages and what Kaia and I are thinking. He growled low. “Son of a bitch. I’m on my way. Is Sinclair still searching for Ronan?”“Yeah. She opted to stay behind to continue her search. We are going back next week to bring her back,” I replied.“Okay. I’ll call her and tell her I want daily status updates on Ronan. That bastard is going to pay.”“Damn right he is,” I said. “I’ll meet yo
Rebel POVIsaiah asked me to help with setting up a quick Alpha and Luna Ceremony. I love that he asked me. I have done the same with Aiden and Reid, as well as the Luna ceremonies for Navy and Thalia. Of course, I am going to do it for Isaiah and Kaia.Three of my four sons are alphas, each with th
Adrian POVThalia and Amber are talking and laughing. Thalia told me that she was going to interrogate her. She was going to make sure she felt relaxed, then hopefully get her to open up.I don’t want to intrude on their time together, but I want to be close enough to hear what she has to say.“This
Adrian POVI woke up beside Amber. She looked peaceful in her sleep. I moved a stray hair from her forehead and looked at her face.I love my mate. I really do. I don’t understand why things are so bad between us. She won’t talk to me. She won’t let me touch her or make love to her. I wouldn’t even
Sinclair POVIt’s not quite noon yet. I have had many conversations with Aric. He has told me how he has grown up. He talked about the sports he played and the hobbies he has. Then we both decided to let our wolves out to go for a run.I shifted into Mali, and Aric shifted into his wolf, Val. Both o
