THE LINE BETWEEN US
We just were.
When the slow song ended and a faster, more playful beat picked up, we didn’t move immediately. We stayed, letting the music find its rhythm around us. And when I finally tilted my head to meet his gaze again, I saw it, relief, hope, and that same quiet happiness I felt when I let myself believe he was finally mine.
I squeezed his hand, and he returned it, thumbs brushing lightly over each other, small gestures that spoke louder than promises. Tonight, the past didn’t matter. Tonight, we were here. Together. Whole. And everything else could wait.
