"She knew she might not come back." Elara gently unrolled the parchment. Unlike the letters, it wasn't a message. It was a hand-drawn map. Detailed. Precise. Covering a stretch of coastline north of Los Angeles. A single location had been circled in red ink. Beside it, Isabella had written only four words. Where promises were made. Lucien studied the map. "I know this coastline." Vivienne leaned over. "So do I." She zoomed in on a satellite image from her tablet.

Miley asked as Alice scribbled on the ground with a branch. Alice lowered her voice pointed to the branch in the center and said, “This is the map of the island. We are probably here, you see? I arrived on this east on the island. Every day patrols are conducted in all four directions. However, the people who patrol from the west side return the latest, implying that the west side is probably larger. Mike’s child is supposed to live over there.” Miley looked at Alice admiringly before sitting on the bed, eating her bread, saying, “But Mike hasn’t mentioned his child to me, and he hasn’t asked where I got this toy. What if he tries to go to the city on his own?”

There’s not much on the map to tell me where it would be located in the big scheme of things, but I think I see a marking that would indicate where the dock is. So… I can figure out the general direction we should be traveling from that and then navigate toward the mountain when we get closer.

My body betrays me and thrums in response. “A small island.” I say, peering at the spot. “The Mizuki Island.” “I’ve never heard of it.” I say. “That’s because it‘s not on the newer maps.” “Strange. Overtaken by the waters?”

Sebastian hummed in acknowledgement. Luna decided to continue. “The name of the island is Hon Hai Island. We weren't able to uncover much about the island because it's quite remote and uninhabited. However, Dr. Voss promised to reach out to a friend of his who is a travel blogger and cartographer. This friend should be able to give us more information about this barren piece of land.” She concluded. Sebastian hummed again. “You look worried, Sebastian. Is there a problem?” Sebastian gave her a wry smile and ran a hand through his hair, pacing slightly.

The GPS on my phone told me to take a right onto Vista Drive. I pulled over and looked at it again, just to make sure that I had typed in the address correctly. There was no way that this was the right Vista Drive. This is weird, I thought. There has to be something wrong. I had been driving for twenty minutes, following the directions to the address that Gabe had given me to come visit him at his home. My GPS had led me to the bridge that connected to one of the islands just outside of Miami, but there was no way this was the right bridge.

Ignis never really had a map with him, so he was just traveling based on the previous stories the Lady of Sickle Island, the kind mistress who took him in, told him when he was young. She said that Sickle island, where Ignis and she lived, was located southwest of Paradis. To go to the closest human dwelling, Ignis must travel south from the island and cross a small river to reach Lost Woods. From there, he could head east to Pago Village or if he wanted to see a city, he should head west instead and venture forth until he reached the walled city of Magna.
