When Marcus parked the vehicle, his man continued to the back door. She waited for the pack master to turn off the engine and exit the driver’s side before opening her door and sliding out. She’d been alive for centuries and seen many loved ones die either by natural causes, battle, or foul play. She’d learned to take death in stride, but there was something about Olivia’s that left her feeling unsettled. She was fond of the girl, but she’d loved others even more and not reacted to their deaths in such a way as she did just then. She couldn’t understand the reason. Not yet, at least. “She’s in here,” Joseph said as he opened a door and stepped back to allow Marcus entry. When Freya began

“We cleared the club. Caught three brokers.” “First, you steal cannabis, hallucinogens, Rophynol, the Special K. Do you know how much each packet of those costs? How much you’ve robbed from me?” I roared at Nico’s face. “And now you go behind my back and get involved with the Ivanovs?” The name set an alarm inside Nico. His chest heaved with fear and regret, confirming my intuitions. I bet he wished he could turn back time and undo his mistakes. Too late.

Before disregarding any notion of embarrassment, I pushed the door open. Giovanni was laid on the bed, one arm folded behind his head while the other clutched a book. His long muscular legs were crossed at the ankles and I gulped audibly at how irresistible he looked. “Are you seriously giving me the silent treatment again?” I asked as irritation itched at my throat. Giovanni remained stoic, his eyes still trained on the novel in his hand. I sat on the end of the bed, staring at his nonchalant form. The title in his hand caught my eye, ‘La Divina Commedia’. (The Divine Comedy) I smiled at the book in his hand.

At least to myself. I wish there were some magic words that would make the trauma disappear, Abra-cadabra! (Hocus-Pocus) But that was just wishful thinking and I didn't do that. I never tried to fool myself. I almost lost Honey once because of arrogant thinking. I think things over and then think them over again. This was one situation where thinking was like unicorn farts. Not good for anything. We turned on the street that led us to Moe's. We had a doctor to see and an alibi to set up.

Uncle J was already seated at the table. His eyes lifted when I stepped inside. He didn’t say anything. Just watched quietly as I pulled out a chair and sat down. The plate in front of me was already prepared. Honey wings. Mac and cheese. The smell filled the room. Rich. Warm. Comforting. For a moment, my stomach twisted. I hoped I would be able to eat it. I picked up the fork slowly. My fingers felt stiff around the handle. I scooped a small portion of the mac and cheese.

Fred POV Being home with Tatum and Grace is the best feeling in the world. The last couple of months after Tatum went to Mara have been absolutely insane. You see, when you think things happen for a reason; you think always good things, now I think of bad things as well. I never thought I would say the words I am about to say, but I admire Thatcher Hill. The man was a hero and no one will ever know. He died to save his family.

We say our goodbyes and I toss my phone onto the couch next to me, looking around the room. It's quiet when Santos has the kids. Almost too quiet. And there's nothing to do. I've deep cleaned the entire apartment from top to bottom. I've done four loads of laundry and put it all away. I even threw dinner in the crockpot already, so my regular chores are done. I tap my fingers on my leg and the Kindle shoved between couch cushions catches my eye. Ooh. I could read for a bit. What is the name of that author I like? The one who writes about all those bearded brothers? Penelope Reads? Penny Reads? Penny Reid! That's it!

It was clear that this man harbored ill intentions towards George; his gaze was filled with a deadly intent that sent a chill through George's veins. Turning back to Scorpio, George's expression hardened with resolve. "We need to be cautious," he murmured, his voice tinged with urgency as he kept a wary eye on the distant figure. "There's someone out there who wants me dead, and we can't afford to let our guard down." With a nod of agreement, Scorpio stood by George's side, her presence a reassuring anchor in the face of looming danger. Together, they remained vigilant, ready to face whatever threats awaited them in the treacherous world of the mafia.

She said, nodding her head. Machine sighed and shook his head. He didn’t know if he could take more. Margo’s hard glare made him pause as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He turned another page and continued reading. His eyes went wide and as he continued to read. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Each person was worse and worse than the one before. The crimes were nothing but heinous. He looked up at Margo with wide panicked eyes when he came to the very last person on the list.

Afterward, I placed a napkin and the drink down on the waiting tray and turned toward the man sitting on the other side of th counter from me. "Mikel, you've asked me that same thing a dozen times. A dozen times, I've said the same thing, must I really make it a baker's dozen?" I questioned. Jess Thompson, a former CIA Targeting Officer, and now my boss, snorted beside me, as twisting the top off three bottles of Corona, he poked three lime wedges within their mouths. Setting the beers on the same tray as the drink I'd just prepared, he pushed it toward the waiting server.
