When all the gifts were sorted to their rightful owners Jaxsen paused. “Do we open them at the same time or one at a time?” “Go ahead and open yours first, Jack,” Sebastian told him. He watched as Jaxsen opened each one, his excitement growing with every one. Sebastian had gone all out, as had Nizhoni in buying Jaxsen’s Christmas. “Wow!” Jaxsen exclaimed as the picture display on the box came into view. At that moment Nizhoni snapped a picture. Sebastian smiled. “What is it you’ve got there, Jack?” He knew full well what it was.

If it was some other time I would have pulled him in a hug but am not sure doing this might give him some encouragement for his feelings. “Why late?”, Jackson asks handing him the drink. He accepts it gladly taking a sip of his drink then release a sigh. He is wearing blue t-shirt with black jeans and leather jacket with Rolex watch lazily hanging on his wrist. I divert my eyes back on the crowd of people dancing.

Jax teased. "For real. I mean, just look at his abs. Nobody has abs like that." I was baiting him a little. I knew for a fact that Jaxon was sporting some crazy defined abs under his t-shirt, and I could feel his hard body beneath mine as I laid on top of him. "How did you even dress up like Jacob for halloween?" He asked, not taking the bait. "I wore a tight t-shirt that looked like abs, the wolf tattoo on my shoulder, jorts, and tennis shoes. I also wore a long black wig so it looked like his hair before he cut it in the movies."

It still hasn't changed so I drop the toilet lid and sit on it, leaning on my arms and huffing as I wait. I think about Christmas morning and the gift I've gotten Jake. I smile warmly to myself as I know he'll love it. It's two tickets to the boxing match downtown. He told me weeks ago that he adored boxing and one of his favourite boxers was playing a match after Christmas so I bought him tickets along with a gold chain with little boxing glove pendants on it. It wasn't anything big but I hoped he'd like it, I spent ages wrapping it up in little blue tissue paper completed with a blue ribbon. Blue is his favourite colour.

Nick opened a bottle of champagne and Jackie poured it into glasses. Nick started a fire in the fireplace in the living room. They kicked their boots off and sat down on the white furry rug and talked about their day as they sipped champagne. The cold air from the sleigh ride had sobered Jackie up, so she figured another glass or two wouldn’t hurt. It was 11:30 p.m. Jackie was about to say something when the clasp broke on her tennis bracelet. “Oh, no,” Jackie said. She picked the bracelet up off the rug.

My thighs shook, nails digging into his chest. He followed seconds later, groaning low and deep, hips bucking as he came inside me, filling me with heat. His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me down against his chest, holding me there while we both caught our breath. The Christmas lights twinkled above us. Home Alone played on, Kevin’s victory music swelling in the background. Jack kissed my temple, voice soft and wrecked. “Merry Christmas, Mara.” I smiled against his neck, still trembling. “Merry Christmas, Jack.”

"We have waffles. Eggs. Bacon. Fruit. And hot chocolate because the guy downstairs said it's Christmas and the rules don't count." Malaya squealed. Judy's eyes widened on the screen. "Jordan Hall," she said, the stern mom tone trying and failing to hide her happiness. "You got something to say to your mother?" Jordan's throat tightened. "Hey, Mom." "Merry Christmas," Judy said, softer. "Merry Christmas," Jordan echoed. Jerry pointed a finger like a warning. "Don't drop the tray, son." Jordan laughed. "Yes, sir." Malaya ended the call with a bright, "Love you!" and clapped as if she'd completed a mission.

Now it was an unspoken rule in the company because I wouldn't have it any other way. A text notification lit up the screen of my phone, snagging my attention away from the past, and I picked it up, quickly dialing the number of the agency Parker had just sent, and waited with bated breath as it rang. “You have reached The Xmas Xpress, Erika speaking. What can I do for you?” a feminine voice chirped in one breath with practiced professionalism. “Um, hello, I'd like to book a Santa Claus mascot,” I said, shifting on my feet.
