"What now? Family will notice if we're gone too long." Jake nuzzled my neck. "We'll figure it out. But this Christmas, you're getting more than gifts. You're getting me. All of me." I smiled, heart full, body sated.

Mr Jakes went so white, I think he would lose consciousness. “Yes, Jakes. Seems like you're forgetting the terms here and also who calls the shots. That you stole a few millions from me doesn't mean you're more powerful. I have billions where that came from.” He gulped.

Jack said and produced a piece of jewelry from his wallet. Upon inspection, I realized it was a brooch. A very beautiful brooch with an intricate design in the shape of a butterfly. It was embedded with glimmering blue and emerald stones. It was so pretty and vintage, something that I'd see in a jewelry store and only dream of buying it one day when I became rich. "I want you to have this," Jack said. Certainly, he wouldn't go as far as to buy it for me, considering he was in a tight position himself.

I know fully well that Jack Mayor won't stand still when he heard Zach's bad deed but this right here is not what i have imagine him to do. He was a short man with thick glasses and hair around the edges of his head but not in the middle, though that was currently hidden under his hat. He held firmly to his fedora with one hand for fear it might blow off and leave his shiny head glistening in the lights, she had no doubt. “Welcome to the Christmas Falls Tree Lighting Ceremony!”

I nod, his hands falling from my face. “Thank you,” he grumbles. I can’t take my eyes off of him. I feel this weird tugging in my chest, this warmth that seeps in out of nowhere.
