Algernon said coldly. "I have disgraced all Juwanians?" Jacobus scoffed and turned an ice-cold gaze on Algernon as he said, "Fine, fine. You're a brave hero! If that's really what you think, then go ahead!" Jacobus took three steps backward, looking as if none of it concerned him any longer. The representatives of the 12 great families frowned upon seeing this. Jacobus was the top Dark Knight. He wasn't a vain fame-seeker and had experienced countless great battles in his lifetime. "Yeah. She was being unprofessional. You reminded me of that." I nod and gaze down at my hands before I meet his eyes again. "And we have no way of getting to Jake without his daughter? He’s the one we truly need." He shakes his head. "No way. It’d have been easier if there was a way, but Grant doesn’t accept deals until it comes through his daughter. She was specifically put for that job. He trusts her judgment. And she’s kind of good at her job, I’ll admit that." "And you know how?"

We tried convincing her to fly to him and stay there for a couple of days but she refuses to leave Snow claiming that this town was her air and she can’t breathe outside it. He is a CEO of a huge company in social media consulting, and he was extremely busy maintaining his business that he doesn’t have time for anything else. Grant is still standing right there on the grass edge, waiting patiently for me, but now he has a small lit cigarette resting between his long fingers. The hard slap mark on his cheek skin has faded away somewhat, and the red blood on his full lips has already clotted into a dark line. His usually perfect, immaculate dark hair is looking slightly disheveled by the forest wind, which is a huge departure from his usual cool, aloof Alpha boss persona. Grant takes off his heavy suit jacket, casually draping the dark cloth right over his big arm. Even in this somewhat ragged, messy state on the street, his body still carries the grand, clean air of a privileged aristocrat wolf.

There is something going on there that makes him want to know what, and why Jackie was snooping around his pack house. “What has you and Dean so busy?” “Nothing you need to be concerned about, little wolf” He grunted. “You know, you’re inability to share is infuriating.” I pouted as I placed my hands on my hips. Julius’ eyes darkened as he caught the action. “I told you, little wolf, I don’t share.” His gaze flickered to Jake so quickly that if I hadn’t of been paying attention, I would have missed it. “Make sure you remember that.” With that he nodded to Dean, who was still standing in the far corner of the gym and making of a show of looking anywhere but at us, and made his way back towards the packhouse, leaving me to collect myself before returning to Maeve and Jake.

Jacob approached me as I walked into the kitchen. “So what’s the deal boss, why are we here?” I grabbed the bottle of scotch from the self and a glass. I poured myself a glass and sipped it. Jacob stared at me waiting for an answer. I flashed a devilish grin at him. “We are going to war.” He looked at me, confused. “With who and why?” I finished my drink and set the glass down. “Joseph King. He shouldn’t have double-crossed me.”

She gestures towards her husband. "Nolan Taylor." He coughs a bit, glaring at Grace. She chuckles. "Stop being so rough, Nolan. She's a beautiful mate for Nick. What lacks? Stop sulking already!" She jokes and I see a corner of his lips lifting a bit but it happens for a second. Indeed a second, and it feels like an illusion but I caught him. He puts on his usual curt facial expression and says, "But she isn't a werewolf. She's weak," he says roughly but Inow I do not feel that hurt because I know he is not as bad as he shows. I really caught him.
