She was sitting with Valerie, picking at her food. But then something changed. Her head lifted slowly and a small smile touched her lips. She was looking at someone walking toward her table. It was Kaden, the new guy from the neighboring pack who had been at our school for a while now. He moved with a swagger like he owned the place even though he was just another scholarship student. Jade’s eyes stayed on him and the blush on her face grew deeper as he got closer.

It is a private institution that caters to extremely gifted children, be it academic or artistic. Maddie has already exceeded all expectations anyone has ever had for her. She is only 7 but is in her seventh-grade year. My beautiful, kind, caring daughter is a literal genius, and I will do everything within my power to keep her in this school. Half of me expects to see Mjollnir flying through the gymnasium windows, but of course, that would be cliché; it isn’t like this is a Marvel movie. The windows and the doors begin to shake fiercely as Hilda calls upon her forefathers to lend her the strength she needs to defeat me. I can see Miles out of my peripheral pacing back and forth; even the professor looks like she’s not sure what to do in this situation. Being a demigod, Hilda is one of the stronger students in this school, and if she loses control of her powers, it could be devastating.
