Jake spoke briefly, his voice steady despite visible grief, choosing to focus not on the fifteen lost years, but on the final months they'd managed to reclaim together, however imperfectly, however late.
"My father wasn't a perfect man," Jake said, standing at the small podium, Mia in the front row holding Hope close against her chest. "For most of my life, he wasn't even a present one. I think that's worth remembering, alongsid
