The Untamed Matriarch
Mason stared into my eyes, his lips parting just enough to show the glint of his canines.
"Thanks, Alpha," Julian said, his voice awkward as he stepped back in, gently reclaiming my hand from his brother. He shot Mason a confused, wary look before focusing on the ring. "It looks... right on you, Rowan."
I tried to force a smile, but my eyes were glued to the stone. It was a massive, ancient diamond, cold and sharp as a glacier. It felt less like jewelry and more like a shackle.
The thought was cut short as the ballroom plummeted into a suffocating silence. The orchestra drifted into a discordant halt as every wolf in the room turned toward the grand entrance.
