He pleaded. “I don’t believe you,” I uttered nonchalantly & then hung up. Then I switched off my phone to get rid of his stubborn ass. Right now, I want nothing but a relaxing bath in the huge bathtub to soothe my exhausted heart, mind & body! + I was reading “Pride & Prejudice” by Jane Austen in the library when Alexander returned. He found me curled on the couch facing the wide glass window with a book in my hand, he came behind me & leaned in so that he could kiss my forehead.

He follows it up with silk hand gloves which he drops on my palms. Quietly, I follow his orders, taking care not to rip the hand gloves with my hastiness. "You can open it now." He pronounces. I was required to do well in school, stay pure, which meant don’t hang out with boys, get classes in decorum, dancing, party planning, budget management, and everything else that was really boring to a teenage girl. My parents would fill my schedule, making it impossible for me to maintain friendships, and the only free time I had I would spend reading books. My favorites were romance novels from the 19th century. It was the exact opposite of life inside the Mystic Shadow Pack. Women in Jane Austen’s novels were fully dressed, and even showing an ankle could be scandalous, but here men and women were naked half the time, and other times they were dressed in skimpy clothes. Things at school have returned to normal, and Bane still abuses me, only he makes sure he does not hit my face, and if he does, it's only a slap, and Bane does not hit hard enough to leave a mark. I finished my novel, and since I have nothing better to do, I plan to read my favorite book, The Pride and Prejudice, By Jane Austen; I have read it many times, and I love romance between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. It makes me wish that I could live in such a beautiful Novel; I long to be loved like all the characters I read about, but I know that it never happens for someone like me; I need to learn to accept that this is my life. Their smiles were infectious, and I found myself grinning along even though I hadn't the slightest idea what they were speaking of the majority of the trip. When we went through a village, it was like a Christmas card. The pointy roofs, cobbled steps, and canopies were perfect. It was beautiful the way the rolling hills often hid a massive country estate or sometimes a crumbling castle. For someone who loved romance novels, this was my favorite dream come true. Not many girls my age had read Jane Austen. Granted most have seen the movie, Pride and Prejudice. But when you read Austen, you get a real feel for what it was like. I truly felt transported back in time, and I was loving it.

I pick it up and notice that it has my name on it. Should I open it? I know it's not good to snoop around people's stuff but... at least I have to know what's in the box. I need to know. If it has my name, then it means it's meant for me. I carefully open the box and inside, I find a novel. 'JANE EYRE by Charlotte Brontë' Scott loved to read, alot. I bet he was going to surprise me with this novel later but... whatever happened, already happened. I will definitely read it.
