If it’s between friends, or close people to us, some don’t use honorifics. They simply call the names.” Jai remembered this being the custom for the Japanese people in his world too. The closer you get with someone, the more comfortable they will be around you, and to sign the close relationship, they will usually call each other by their given name and not their surname. In other chances, they discard the suffix -san and replace it with -chan, or even discard it completely.
“Uh-huh…” Darrion frowned slightly. He didn’t seem to get it.
