A balding man approached the table with two bodyguards. " Mr Xavier! Good Afternoon!" Jaxon and John said in unison. " Have you been waiting long?" The man asked. " No, Sir. We just got here." John answered. The man helped himself to a seat. " Ah! The rogue billionaire businessman, Jaxon Hearst. It's nice to finally meet you in person." " The pleasure is mine,Mr Xavier, and I'm not a rogue." Jaxon laughs. " Says the man with billion dollars empire and is still raking in more." Mr. Xavier said. He snapped his fingers and one of the guards lit a cigarette for him.

Though confused, I let Cyrus pull me closer to him as we crossed. "Ash..." "Don't talk. I'm here to give you these." "Thanks man." I heard Cyrus say but I got my eyes focused on something else. I looked away. "This is Liam Black, our left wing," the guy with grey eyes and black curly hair nodded at me, and I smiled. He threw his arm, pointing at another man with beautiful, warm hazel and brown hair. "Meet Jaxson Jenkins, aka J-bomb, our right wing." Jaxson winked at me, and I chuckled. "Have you met Mason Kane, our defenseman?" he elbowed the dude sitting next to him. Kane smiled, all teeth, and it warmed my heart. I was amazed by his curly auburn hair and bright green eyes that were fixed on mine.

Ezra and Caleb arrived minutes later, shoving each other through the doorway. “HE LIVES!” Ezra yelled. “I told them you were too stubborn to die,” Caleb added, slapping Jaxon’s back lightly. Jaxon winced. “Dude. Surgery.” “Oh—sorry.” Usher jumped right into their chaos like he’d known them for years. “Okay, hi, I’m Usher, apparently Sienna step brother now—don’t ask—and I play basketball. Who plays? Gavin, who accepted Jaxon’s rage, just shrugged and hid behind Rey’s body. Danny Johanson laughed with amusement when he read the newspaper that was still spread out on the table, even Nicko Anderson, who was holding Jaxon’s body, couldn’t help but laugh, adding to Jaxon’s angry fire. Gideon Rose and Connor Black were forced to drag Jaxon, their best friend, to the corner of the room.

But he and his family weren’t what I’d expected either. So many things needed fixing in this house. Hailey, the child with a trauma because of his mother’s death and his father’s possible involvement. Lisa, who wailed the second I touched her. Fleefoot who’d never learned to be a family dog. And Jaxon who dealt with demons I had no clue about. Jaxon rubbed his hand over his stubble then sighed. “This isn’t one of the dresses I bought for you. You can’t wear this when you meet your bodyguards.”
